Biography

My Journey toward Present Day
About
Inspired by all the little things in life, I aim to show my audience the way that I see the world. I make an effort to show beauty in the mundane. I usually photograph things that people generally walk right past. My eye has a tendency to notice the slightly camouflaged splendor of the world.
I am always active, whether bicycling, snowboarding, or running, I often find myself out of breath. I have recently discovered the true meaning of health and have adopted a strict vegan lifestyle. Over the past year I have become fond of running and even participated in some races. I am a movie-buff and love music. I am willing to try almost anything once and have a knack for finding adventure. I am fascinated by the world and want nothing more than the opportunity to see it all.
Past
I entered this world in Derby Connecticut on July 30th 1982. Predicted to be born August 3rd, I guess I was anxious to start life. Ironically I am the only member in my family to not born in August. I like to say that I have always been an artist because I believe that being an artist is something that is innate from birth. Yes, people can learn how to draw or take good photographs, but I believe that being an artist is more of a perspective on life. As Leonardo da Vinci (one of my greatest inspirations of all time) once said, “There are three classes of people: those who see, those who see when they are shown, those who will never see.”
My hands have been creating ever since my early introduction to art supplies as a child. Over the years I have explored many mediums of expression. At the age of seven I was placed into an advanced drawing class and that was my medium of choice till I found photography. At the age of 17 I was gifted my first SLR camera from my father, the late Kevin David McCarthy. The moment my right pointer finger pressed the shutter release for the first time, something inside me activated. That split second changed everything. My path had been altered and I don’t know how my life would look today without that experience. It set me forth on my life’s ambition to capture the world, and I have been doing so ever since.
I have worked in many areas of photography over the years. However, when I am travelling the world with my camera in hand, I feel a sense of harmony between myself and the universe. When I was 16 I took a bus to Colorado to learn how to snowboard in the Rocky Mountains. It was my first trip alone and my first time west of New England. My eyes were wide open and my camcorder hardly left my hand. That trip surfaced my desire for travel and from then on I’ve wanted to see the world. Soon enough my obsession for travel and passion for photography emerged a spark inside me. That spark has cultivated into the essence of who I am. Illuminated from within, I have become a travel photographer who wants nothing more in life then to seek adventure and photograph the world.
Present
Traveling the world I have captured many different and sometimes obscure cultures. When afoot in foreign lands, I tend to seek out the native way of life rather than that of a tourist. I am awed by the diversity life has to offer in culture, architecture and breath taking landscapes.
I have worked with such publications as Food Management Magazine, Amazing Figure Modeler, Captain’s Seaside Guide, Connecticut Magazine, and more. I have had work commissioned from the Milford Arts Counsel as inspiration and incorporation of a mixed media play performance in the summer of 2006. My work has seen the covers of various musical artists albums and their websites. Recently I have been compiling and showing my work in gallery’s across the state of Connecticut.
Future
I am working towards using my art to make a difference in the world. I am attempting to establish a venue to raise funds and awareness for many of the good causes around the globe through my photography. My goal is to have exhibits that will educate people on the needs of others through my art while raising funds to help solve the immediate issues with donations and sales.
Work
I am available for world assignments, commissions, and currently seeking representation. I do all my own editing, printing, framing, matting and am available for hire.
